Dr. Maerck's Unique Method

The MAERCKS Microlyft is designed to address the most common concern of our patient population while minimizing invasiveness to deliver a completely painless solution with no downtime or visible scars while maximizing results instead of sacrificing outcomes. Thus it opens doors to patients who would not consider a surgical facelift or really don’t qualify for one.

The zero recovery MAERCKS-Microlyft is the result of a decade of refinement of the MAERCKS-lift (Musculo-Aponeurotic Elevation and Retention with Check Kedge Suspension), Dr Maercks innovative facelift technique that applies his concepts of histiocentricity. Using and adapting this technique to individual patient needs for over a decade has led to the development of a powerful procedure that is ultra focused on the primary concerns of patients.

Ancillary procedures can be performed simultaneously like the MAERCKS micro-eyelift, additional submental lifting, genioplasty and resurfacing.

  • Zero Downtime vs 2-4 weeks hiding at home

  • Zero pain vs pain with opioid medications

  • Natural appearance vs pulled/stretched appearance

  • Deep ligamentous support vs elastic SMAS support, shorter lasting and lower definition

  • Long term 10 plus year results vs quickly recurring laxity

  • 2 hour procedure with light or zero anesthesia vs 8 hour deep anesthesia causing brain fog

  • Safety of minimal dissection vs extensive trauma to face/structures

What is a Facelift?

When performing a facelift, a plastic surgeon should address the entire face, including areas surrounding the jowls, cheeks, and neck. A good facelift tightens the underlying layer of muscle (called the SMAS) and removes any excess skin from the area to tighten it up.

Dr. Maercks offers the following facelift procedures:

  • MAERCKS Microlyft (zero recovery neck and jawline lift without facelift)

  • Hybrid Microlyft (Microlyft plus noninvasive facial balancing for midface and upper third)

  • MAERCKS Deep Plane Composite Facelift with "zero recovery" - monobloc face and neck lift

The MAERCKS Microlyft

Dr. Maercks’s Technique of Choice for Zero Recovery Neck Lift

The MAERCKS Micro-Lyft addresses the appearance and skin quality from the clavicle up and cleans the neck, jawline and lower third of the face without the dissection and insult conventionally necessary.

Most micro-lyfts are completed in one hour and can be performed completely awake without anesthesia or with sedation or anesthesia depending on patient preference.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Facelift?

In general, those who make good candidates for a Microlyft are those who:

FAQ

What is histiocentricity, and how does it relate to the facelift procedures at The Maercks Institute?

Histiocentricity is a technique that involves minimal tissue dissection to achieve natural-appearing aesthetic enhancements. At The Maercks Institute, this approach is used in all facelift procedures to ensure maximum results with minimal downtime and reduced complications.

Describe the recovery time typically associated with procedures at The Maercks Institute:

Recovery time at The Maercks Institute is typically very short, with many patients appearing presentable within one to two days. For example, some patients can go to lunch with their hair down the day after surgery, though there may be some visible findings around the ears.

What is the main purpose of a pure microlift?

A pure microlift aims to improve and elevate the area from the clavicle to the jawline and lower third of the face. This procedure is ideal for patients who want to avoid facial incisions and reduce the risk of swelling.

How does the extended microlift differ from the pure microlift?

The extended microlift builds on the pure microlift by supporting deeper facial tissue without additional dissection. It extends the lifting effect higher into the lower third of the face while maintaining the same minimal recovery period.

Where are the incisions for a microlift typically located, and what is the impact on scarring?

The incisions for a microlift are typically located behind the ear and in the natural crease in front of the ear lobule. This placement ensures that the procedure is practically scarless, with incisions hidden in natural folds.

Explain what the hybrid microvol lift combines, and what area of the face it addresses.

The hybrid microvol lift combines Dr. Maercks’ aesthetic facial balancing procedure (AFP) with the lifting power of the microlift. It targets both the upper third and midface by restoring volume around the eyes, temples, and base of the nose while lifting the neck and jawline.

What is the composite deep plane Maercks lift, and who might be a good candidate for it?

The composite deep plane Maercks lift is the most comprehensive facial rejuvenation procedure offered. It is designed for patients with significant midface and neck findings, including younger individuals in their 30s, who seek substantial rejuvenation without the telltale signs of a facelift.

How is the composite deep plane Maercks lift different from traditional deep plane facelifts?

Unlike traditional deep plane facelifts, the composite deep plane Maercks lift uses histiocentricity, minimizing tissue dissection. This leads to less swelling, bruising, and complications, resulting in a faster recovery with natural-looking results.

What is the purpose of a submental lift?

The submental lift is designed to contour the area under the chin by removing excess fat and tightening muscles. It improves the appearance of fullness under the jawline, enhancing neck definition.

What anatomical structures are addressed in a submental lift?

A submental lift addresses fat beneath the skin and under the platysma muscle. It also involves tightening the digastric and platysma muscles, improving neck and jawline definition.
